Interior Painting in Greater Sacramento
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors finished with clean lines and zero mess.

What a proper interior job actually involves
Most of the difference between a paint job that looks good for two years and one that looks good for ten happens before any color goes on the wall. Filling and sanding, spot-priming water stains and knots, de-glossing old enamel trim so the new coat has something to grip — none of it shows up in photos, and all of it shows up three winters later.
On a typical Sacramento-area repaint that means de-glossing surfaces the new coat has to bond to, spot-priming stains so they cannot bleed back through, and priming any wall where the color change is dramatic. Dark red to soft white is a three-coat job whatever the can says, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a patchy wall.
Ceilings, vaults and two-story entries
Vaulted ceilings and two-story entries are where a lot of homeowners get quoted cheaply and then watch a crew try to reach it from a ladder. Those spaces need proper staging to be cut in cleanly and safely, and they take longer than the square footage suggests. It's worth asking any painter specifically how they plan to reach it before you sign anything.
Low-VOC paint and living in the house while we work
Modern low-VOC and zero-VOC interior paints have improved enough that most families stay in the house through an interior repaint. We work room by room where that helps, keep the dust contained, and put furniture back each evening so you're not living around a job site for a week.

How we approach interior painting
Protect
Floors covered, furniture moved to the center and wrapped, fixtures and hardware removed rather than taped around.
Prep
Glossy surfaces de-glossed, stains spot-primed so they never bleed back through, and every edge cut in by hand.
Paint
Cut in by hand, rolled wet-edge, two full coats on color changes — with the room back in order before Jeff leaves for the day.

Interior Painting — your questions
How long does it take to paint the interior of a house?
A few rooms usually run one to three days. A full-home interior repaint on an average Sacramento-area home is typically three to six working days depending on square footage, ceiling height, how much trim there is, and how much prep the walls need. You'll get a specific timeline in your written estimate, not a guess.
Do I need to move out while you paint?
Almost never. Most interior repaints are done room by room with furniture moved to the center and covered, and the house is put back in order at the end of each day.
Do you repair drywall or match texture?
No. Drywall repair and texture matching are a separate trade, and doing them badly shows through the finish coat forever. Jeff will point out anything that needs patching during the estimate and can tell you who to call, then paint once the repair is done and cured.
How many coats of paint will you apply?
Two full coats over a properly prepped surface is standard. Dramatic color changes, bare drywall and heavily stained areas get a primer coat first — that's included in the estimate, not added later.
Are estimates really free?
Yes. Every estimate is free, in writing, with no pressure and no obligation. Most are scheduled within a few days of your call or text.
Does Jeff personally work on every job?
Yes. Central Painting does not send subcontractors. Jeff is on site from the first coat to the final walkthrough on every project.
Are you licensed?
Yes — California contractors license #785742, C-33 Painting and Decorating, issued October 2000 and current and active. Central Painting also carries a $25,000 contractor's bond. You can verify all of it yourself on the CSLB website at any time.
